In this landscapes and colours crossing, absolutely lost elsewhere, is located this marginal land, where every village is at the same time history and legend, and where the nature – sometimes wild-looking, other times very sweet – attract and touch you.
History and Culture
Thanks to the central position of Podere Le Manzinaie, within an easy drive, you can explore the area all around, admiring the wonderful Tuscan countryside and visiting medieval villages, such as: Montepulciano, Pienza, Monticchiello, Montalcino, Cortona, Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Castiglione del Lago and Trasimeno Lake.
In addition to the places mentioned above, there are other places to visit in the area: small villages, abbey set between the typical sweet hills, where you can be witness of unexpected panorama breath-taking glimpses, but moving on a bit, it’s easy to reach by train or by car, other towns rich of charm such as Assisi, Perugia, Orvieto, Florence and Rome.
Tour and tasting
When you travel, it’s very important to develop all the senses at our disposal to better know what the area has to offer. Certainly, combining “taste” and “smell”, following the different food and wine routes, help us to understand the real culinary essence of a region.
For this reason, we suggest to all our guests to take part to tastings of typical products to taste our area’s deliciousness: wine, Pecorino cheese, extra virgin olive oil, honey; you’d be spoilt for choice!
In our region, wine is the real protagonist. In fact, the story of Montepulciano has always been linked to the name of its vineyards and its wine as prove the dense net of centuries-old wine cellars dug in the stone located in the Historical Center, nowadays authentic works of art, that confirm how old is the art of wine.
Nature and sport
For those who wants to keep fit during the holidays, our area offers the opportunity to take a walk and be in contact with the nature following fantastic routes with different degrees of difficulty, either by walking or by bike.
The tracks are interesting even under the natural aspect, where you can admire wonderful landscapes and views with cypress trees, holm oak, or oak trees on the background, interchanged with small wavy level lines.
Near our property, along the Canale Maestro della Chiana, the Path of the Reclaimed Land (about 62 km long, which link two cities Chiusi and Arezzo) is the ideal place to go jogging or trekking every day and arriving at the “Lago di Montepulciano” Natural Reserve, located in the south part of Valdichiana Valley.
Into the reserve is possible to do bird watching, admiring lots of different birds kind, considered quite rare, in their natural environment, because this place is an important stopping place for migrations from Africa to Europe, beyond to be used from many aquatic species as a place of overwintering or nesting.
